S-290 Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior - 32 hours                               Training Schedule

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a 32 hour classroom-based skills course designed to prepare the prospective supervisor to undertake safe and effective fire management operations. It is the second course in a series that collectively serves to develop fire behavior prediction knowledge and skills.

OBJECTIVES
Identify and describe the environmental, topographic, and fuel factors which influence the behavior of wildland fire.
Identify and describe the causes of extreme fire behavior, such as spotting, crowning, fire whirls, plume dominated and wind-driven fires.  Assess fireline data and fire behavior estimations, and identify areas where fire suppression limitations exist.

Target Group: Firefighter (FFT2)

Prerequisites: Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (S-190).  Suggested two years of wildland fire experience.

Date of Course: June 7,8,14,15, 2008

Course hours: 8 AM to 5 PM

Maximum Class Size: 25 (Tuition may be paid at the class).

Location: Aero Methow Rescue Service, 1005 Highway 20 S, Twisp, WA. This is on the left or south side of the highway, about two blocks before crossing the Methow River Bridge, as you enter Twisp from the south.

Registration Closes:  May 1, 2008

Cost: Includes course materials, handouts and a certificate of completion. $170.00 per student -   An additional $25 may be charged if you changed companies since last year and had previous training from an NWSA certified instructor.  This is to cover the database records transfer fee charged to Fire Vision LLC by NWSA.
